No, as of February 2019, USP Labs was no longer in business. They had agreed to cease their business activities within 90 days of entry of a plea agreement and immediately begin liquidating their inventory, according to their plea agreement filed in February 2019 with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The parties also agreed USP Labs should be sentenced to two years of probation.
USP Labs faced legal issues related to the marketing and safety of their popular workout supplement, Jacked, which contained a now-banned ingredient. The FDA issued a warning letter to USP Labs in November 2015 regarding the safety of their products, which led to the company recalling all of its tainted containing products, including Jacked and OxyElite Pro.
In 2017, USP Labs and its parent company, Nutraceuticals International LLC, were indicted on charges related to the sale of misbranded dietary supplements, including Jacked and OxyElite Pro. In 2019, USP Labs and its owners pleaded guilty to the charges and were ordered to pay a total of $123.5 million in criminal fines, forfeiture, and restitution. USP Labs agreed to cease its business activities within 90 days of entry of a plea agreement and immediately begin liquidating its inventory.
USP Labs was co-founded in 2006 by Jacob Geissler and Jonathon Geissler.
The original formula of Jacked, a pre-workout supplement produced by USP Labs, contained a blend of ingredients such as arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, creatine monohydrate, beta alanine, caffeine, and other ingredients.
The original Jacked pre-workout formula was discontinued due to controversy and legal issues surrounding one of its primary ingredients. This ingredient was linked to serious health risks, including heart problems and even death. As a result, the FDA issued warnings in 2012 and the product was eventually removed from the market.
